(Greed's Comeuppance)
The Jackpot Pumpkin
Elated with the flush of windfall compensation,
euphoric bliss of richness' sweet kiss,
the pumpkin burns bright into the night.
****************
****************
Everybody loved the party. No expense was spared.
The rewards were immeasurable. The risks were negligible.
****************
****************
The culprits were inculpable. All the greedy-guts got a belly full.
The heights were unfathomable. Bulls stampeded the market.
****************
****************
The bottom was bottomless. The credit was free.
****************

***************
***************
The flippers flopped when the market dropped.

****************
Greed's comeuppance has come upon us.
The Jackpot Pumpkin is rotten.
(Note the slugs slurping slime; Liquidation of “past it’s prime”.)
****************
****************
We've all sunk low in a sea of woe.
Someday this will all be forgotten.
(Note the slugs, sucking slime, joyful for, the rotting rind.)
*************
****************
The seeds have been planted, and lie waiting for fading memory.

Then the next season will come,
of another
Jackpot Pumpkin.
